Man, this year is moving slow. There must be an explanation for the fact that even the shortest month of the year felt so long. Still at the office full time, which sucks, our PC broke down, which sucks even more. It’s probably easily fixable, but still an annoyance. Had to watch Blizzconline with sadness. Thankfully, it wasn’t that good. State of the new World Of Warcraft patch doesn’t look promising. Yet.
Anyway, we’re here for the books! And February was a wonderful month, and I owe this gratitude to Audible. I finished 4 books in February during my commute and in total I read 7 books which, not too shabby for me. Let’s go over them first.

WE ARE MANY & ALL THESE WORLDS (BOBIVERSE #2 & #3): We are Legion, We are Bob was a blast. Such a nice little surprise. You know what was even more surprising? The following books were also very good. Not a common occurrence in a trilogy. We Are Many add even more characters and situations to existing storyline, and I can say most of them worked pretty well for me. We Are Many was more complex and more emotional than its predecessor. Unfortunately, not as funny but still stole a few chuckles from me.
Although All These Worlds tied up the series pretty well, it was the one that I couldn’t get into the most. Maybe with the gloom of the end approaching, even though the stakes were pretty high, I just didn’t care about it as intended. All I cared about were the emotional parts. The book had a lot of hard-hitting, emotionally charged moments as they face the reality of outliving their loved ones. That hit hard.
But credit where credit is due (without ignoring the success of the world created by the author, Dennis E. Taylor), it was the impeccable audiobook narration made me truly enjoy the story. Ray Porter injected personalities into the Bobs and made them unique characters. All of them. I’ll miss those crazy bastards.
CLOCKWORK BOYS (CLOCKTAUR WAR #1): I’ve been noticing the name T. Kingfisher via her very interesting book titles and even more interesting cover designs for a while, but I had never read one of her books before. I couldn’t resist when I saw this book among the recommendations and dived in without even a little care about my ever ending TBR. And I’m glad I did. I get most of my book recommendations through bookstagram, but I have never seen this book mentioned. Not even once. So going in, I was completely blind. I flew through it! So much fun! Nothing groundbreaking or anything, it was just fun. The dynamic between the heroes (?) was a joy to witness. Can check out my full review here.!
FANTASTICLAND: I swear I don’t know what I’d do if I did not have audiobooks. FantasticLand was the second audiobook of February aaaaaand it wasn’t very good. It has such a far-fetched story; it didn’t seem convincing, even for someone like me. Freddy Krueger is my religion. Narration by Angela Dawe and Luke Daniels were top-notch. They made everything much more tolerable. I think I’ll review FantasticLand, nonetheless.
HORRORSTOR: The last book and audiobook of February. I guess I haven’t finished so many audiobooks in a month before. This was even more disappointing than FantasticLand. I wanted to buy this as a physical book but it was included in audible so I said what the hell. I’m glad I did that. I’m not even going to dignify it with a review.
ALL SYSTEMS RED & ARTIFICIAL CONDITION (THE MURDERBOT DIARIES #1 & #2): Is there anybody who hasn’t heard of Murderbot yet? I guess I’m late to the game, even. Murderbot is my spirit animal, like many. In its situation, I probably would act the same. But that is it. Just Murderbot. Otherwise the main plot, companion characters, general world-building couldn’t catch my interest to be honest. Nothing ground breaking. Even though I can’t make much sense for all the awards it received, just for Murderbot’s sake, I am going to continue reading its adventures. The other two are in my March TBR (spoilers!)
That makes it seven! Even though I usually find the book I read quite mediocre, so far this year is the year I have progressed closest to my Goodreads challenge goal. I am happy with it. Still, it’s a pity for me that I haven’t finished Malice in February because I really like it and can’t wait to talk about it more. Hopefully, within March!
