NOVEMBER WRAP-UP

And just like that, New Year is on our doorstep. I can’t believe the entire year went by so quickly, let alone November. While November wasn’t that great in terms of productivity, it was definitely a better month in terms of reading than in October.

I read 1,335 pages in total with the five books (novels and novellas) that I finished in November. There is also a book that I started and failed to finish, which I will finish first thing in December but I don’t include it in the read pages.

My November TBR had The Shadow Of The Gods, Project Hail Mary, Lullaby, Monsters of Men, and if I had time, Dragon Reborn, but I couldn’t quite make the list because Nightmare Chronicles is so damn good. I didn’t feel like reading anything else.

I finished The Shadow Of The Gods, Project Hail Mary, Lullaby. As a short pallet cleaner, I read A Human Stain by Kelly Robson and then moved straight to Sleepwalkers. I started Monsters of Men but couldn’t finish it in November. I’ll take care of it before the year is done.

Except for A Human Stain, all the books were 4 and 5-star books for me. I gave A Human Stain two stars. Since I will not write a special review for the book, I can briefly mention that although the subject and setting were promising at first, I could not read a 40-page short story in one go at the end. I found the story quite dull and badly paced, even though it contained an incredibly interesting element for me, creepy children. So sad.

In a nutshell;

  • The Shadow of The Gods by John Gwynne ★★★★
  • Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir ★★★★
  • Lullaby by Daniel Barnett ★★★★★
  • Sleepwalkers by Daniel Barnett ★★★★★
  • A Human Stain ★★

BOOK OF THE MONTH

While there are heavyweights like The Shadow of The Gods and Project Hail Mary among the books I’ve read this month, I should choose Lullaby, the second book in Daniel Barnett’s Nightmareland Chronicles series, as the book of the month. What a terrific story Nightmareland Chronicles is turning into. I really liked Nightfall and thought the series was promising, but Lullaby really took my interest in the series to a different level. If you’re into the horror genre, I definitely recommend Nightmareland Chronicles.

I’m still pretty behind on the Goodreads Reading Challenge, currently 61/67. I congratulate myself for squeezing everything into the last month. So in December I’m going to cheat a bit and read mostly fast-paced novellas. But let’s talk about this on my December TBR.

So, what did you read in November? How was your month! Are there any books we read at the same time this month? Let’s chat!

By the way, I’m not celebrating Thanksgiving, but happy thanksgiving to all my readers who do! (a bit late I know)
