DECEMBER TBR

Of course, I bit off more than I could chew again this year, and I’m way behind on my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’m currently 61/67 and need to read at least 6 books by the end of the year.

When I quit my job, audiobooks disappeared from my life and when the exchange rates in the country took flight, it was certain that I could not use them again. Their absence really affects my reading count.

So how do I overcome this problem? Novellas! December will be spent reading the short books on my backlog.

My first goal is to read Nightmareland Chronicles’ fourth book, Flaslighters, and the fifth book, City of Blood in December, so I can be ready for book 6, Lily, due out in January 2022. Nightmareland Chronicles has been one highlight of this year for me, so this will be the easiest goal to achieve.

The third and possibly the longest book I will read this month will be Monsters of Men, the third book in the Chaos Walking series. I started the book in November and couldn’t finish it. I’ll take care of it this month.

Another book is Only The Stains Remain by Ross Jeffery, which was on my list in October but fell victim to a reading slump. I will keep my promise to the book and read it in December. Its Goodreads rating is 4.40, which is pretty high for a horror novella. I’m really curious, actually.

One of my favorite authors is Neil Gaiman, and I have read none of Gaiman’s books in 2021! I will put an end to this shame and close 2021 with The Ocean at the End Of The Lane. I can’t believe it was published in 2013 and I still haven’t read it by the end of 2021. Blasphemy.

There are several candidates for the last book on my December reading list. Goners by L. Stephenson, Autumn Bleeds Into Winter by Jeff Strand, or, if I have time, a fast thriller. I guess we’ll see by the end of the month. Any recommendations?

So that’s my December TBR. After a few months of not really reading much, I’m going to push myself to complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I think it’s doable. And not cheating at all. No, it is not. It will be a busy month.

I’d love to know what you are going to read in December! Are there any matching books on our lists? Do you have any recommendations? Let’s chat!
